Hospital Dos de Maig
C. Two of May, 301
08025 - Barcelona
Dos de Maig Hospital was inaugurated in 1924, months after it was set up, and has a long tradition as an institution serving Catalan healthcare. It is a medium-sized hospital that belongs to the Integral Health System for public use of Catalonia (SISCAT) and is a provider center of the Catalan Health Service.
In 1999, by virtue of an agreement between the Spanish Red Cross and the Health Administration of Catalonia, the Hospital de la Creu Roja de Barcelona became part, together with the Hospital General de l'Hospitalet, of the Consortium Health Center of the Red Cross of Catalonia, which in 2002 changed its name to Consorci Sanitari Integral.
In 2010, with the opening of the Sant Joan Despí Moisès Broggi Hospital, a new health facility was created, the Dos de Maig Comprehensive Care Center, in which four levels of care coexist: primary care (with the of Primary Care Sagrada Família); specialized care, urgent care and hospital care (with Dos de Maig Hospital).
As a result of the territorial coordination strategy, joint services have recently been developed between the Hospital Dos de Maig and the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Vascular Surgery and General Surgery) for shared management of assistance, taking into account the different complexity of the pathologies. On the other hand, common territorial devices such as the Acute Geriatric Unit have also been created.
The center's reference population is mostly from the Eixample, Gràcia and Horta-Guinardó municipal districts of the city of Barcelona and varies by medical devices and specialties: almost 200.000 people for specialized assistance and almost 410.000 for 'urgent assistance, frail patients and hospitalization at home.
