A commitment to the environment

Sant Joan Despí Hospital continues its firm commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment, with the installation of solar panels on the roofs of Building A, which will contribute significantly to its energy efficiency.

According to the project's calculations, the solar installation is expected to generate 947.800 kWh of energy annually, an amount that will be entirely used for the Hospital's own consumption. This initiative will cover approximately 7,27% of the building's total energy consumption, thus reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

The installation not only represents an economic saving, but also has a direct environmental impact: it is estimated that 294,86 tons of CO₂ will be avoided in the atmosphere annually, an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the Hospital de Sant Joan Despí. This project is possible thanks to the agreement between the Consorci Sanitari Integral and L'Energètica (Public Energy of Catalonia), and has the collaboration of Infraestructures of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The installation of solar panels is a clear example of the effort to ensure that the healthcare system is increasingly sustainable, with the aim of protecting the environment and promoting the use of renewable energies; with an eye on a cleaner and more sustainable future for the community.

In addition to this action, projects have also been designed to install solar panels in Building B of the Sant Joan Despí Hospital and in the Collblanc Residence.

This project is part of the actions established in the 2024-2026 Strategic Planning, specifically those related to Corporate Social Responsibility.
