The Hospital de Sant Joan Despí has begun work on the second phase of the expansion of the center's Emergency Service, a strategic action to improve capacity hospital care, improve the infrastructure and offer more efficient and safer care to highly complex patients.
The second phase of works represents a step forward in consolidating an emergency model to ensure, which differentiates circuits according to clinical severity the que optimize spaces and workflows. With these improvements, patients gain in security and professionals in optimal conditions for high quality care.
According to the general director of the Comprehensive Healthcare Consortium, Francesca Moyà: "This remodeling responds to our commitment to a resolute and person-centered hospital model, which adapts to the present and future healthcare challenges of the territory."
A higher quality Emergency service
The second phase of works will last until the last quarter of 2025 and will renovate 300 m² of the Emergency Department space, with an investment of two million euros. The first phase of the Service's remodeling, completed weeks ago, allowed for an expansion of its facilities by 324 m². Overall, the new Emergency Department will have an area of over 2.100 m².

With this new structure, the Emergency Service will have two areas differentiated according to the level of clinical complexity (module A and module B) and more efficient healthcare circuits.

To minimize inconvenience during the works period, there will be acoustic panels, temporary air conditioning i specific signage to guarantee the smooth functioning of the service. It is also important to remember that to contribute to the well-being of all people admitted and facilitate the work of professionals, only an accompanying person for each patient.
A reference center in the territory
The Sant Joan Despí Hospital is part of the Comprehensive Healthcare Consortium. Together with the General Hospital of l'Hospitalet and the Sociosanitary Hospital of l'Hospitalet, it constitutes the Moisès Broggi University Hospital Complex.
