The Hospital de Sant Joan Despí Moisès Broggi and the Hospital General de l'Hospitalet have participated with the pharmaceutical company Merck in the launch of an application intended for neurologists, called NeuroMerck. One of the people responsible for the development of the application is Ester Moral, head of Neurology service and coordinator of the Study Group on Demyelinating Diseases of the Spanish Society of Neurology.

NeuroMerck aims to make it easier for neurologists to be up to date on multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases, those in which the conduction of signals in the nerves is affected by a change in the myelin layer of the nerve cells.

The content, available in the app environment, will aim to add value to the specialty of neurology through scientific journals, news, opinion articles, interviews with specialists, in addition to monitoring the main events. There will also be a space for eHealth topics.

Ester Moral explains that the specialist will be able to decide on the information he wants and adapt it to his interests at each moment, through the continuously updated application made by expert neurologists of recognized prestige, as well as interactive sections such as "The question of month".

The head of Neurology believes that the use of applications in the medical environment will revolutionize the way professionals work in the future. And he recommends starting to work there to adapt the applications to the needs of professionals.

Within the Neurology service, the professionals who collaborate in the Multiple Sclerosis Unit will also do so with the application, summarizing the contents to make them more accessible. Neurologists Laura Gubieras and Carmen Edo and neuropsychologists Isabel Gómez and Marta Balagué have also been involved in the project.

The use of the application is free and accessible via web, tablet or mobile, and available in the Apple Store environment and Google Play.
