The examinations are carried out by doctors specialized in the digestive system through MIR with more than 10 years of experience in digestive endoscopy. Both conventional and highly complex scans are performed. It is part of the colorectal cancer detection program of the master plan of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).

All this to treat patients with inflammatory bowel disease, a chronic and potentially serious pathology that mainly affects young people. It offers rapid, multidisciplinary management of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and its various complications.

1. Monographic consultations: specific attention by doctors who are experts in rare pathologies that require a high level of knowledge. The service has the following monographic queries:
   • High-risk consultation: follow-up of patients at increased risk of colon cancer. If appropriate, the follow-up and genetic study of family members is carried out, as well as the consultation of complex endoscopic therapies.
   • Consultation of decompensated liver cirrhosis: follow-up of patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis to avoid hospital admissions. Patients are served when they need it: paracentesis, beta blockers, drug optimization...
   • Rapid diagnostic consultation: visits without a waiting list, for a quick study, to patients referred from the emergency department for suspected serious illness or neoplastic digestive disease.
   • Viral hepatitis consultation: Treatment is offered to patients with hepatitis C and B.

The Digestology Service has an inpatient unit with admitted patients under its care. The most common pathologies tend to be digestive bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease and decompensated cirrhosis. Their average income is 550 per year.
