Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Service offers specialized medical care to adult patients. Its mission is to take care of people in an individualized, integrative way and with excellent scientific quality, adapting to the needs of the population in its environment, to restore their health. These needs have changed in recent years due to the aging of the general population and the chronicity of multiple diseases, which have shaped chronic and frail patients.

The differentiating fact of this medical specialty is its ability to integrate the patient, its global vision of the person, the family, diseases and the environment. In recent years it has become the pillar of care for hospitalized people and a fundamental support for surgical specialties.

At the same time, the specification and complexity of scientific knowledge have led to the development of areas of expertise to be able to respond to the needs and expectations of many patients regarding their health.

Teaching is the other basic pillar of the specialty to offer the learning of basic knowledge and skills to professionals in medical specialties. And yet it adheres to research by participating in registries and studies in collaboration with other centers.
