Memory and healthy habits workshop at CAP la Torrassa

The CAP la Torrassa has organized a workshop with the aim of working on cognitive stimulation to prevent memory problems. The workshop is aimed at people over 65, who know how to read and write, and who are interested in working to prevent memory impairment.

It is a program of eight weekly two-hour group sessions that will begin on May 8 and end on June 26, 2017. The sessions will take place on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 13 p.m.

During the sessions, the following points will be worked on:
– Relate life habits and memory by working on the two concepts theoretically and practically.
– Introduce appropriate physical exercise to the participants.
–    Enhance the sociability of the group.

The activity is free and will be organized by the nurses: Araceli Povedano, Maribel Muñoz and Sacri Gutiérrez. The activity will take place in the health education classroom of CAP la Torrassa. People interested in participating will have to contact their reference healthcare team at the center.

Contents of the sessions:

1. Presentation/Question of doubts from the previous session (10 minutes).

2. Theoretical content on memory and healthy lifestyle habits: food, physical exercise, rest/insomnia, depression/anxiety, adherence to treatments, toxic habits, social resources, etc. (20 minutes).

3. Individual and group cognitive stimulation exercises (60 minutes).

4. Physical activity: stretching, balance exercises to prevent falls or dizziness, relaxation exercises, etc. (20 minutes).

5. General review of the session and assessment (10 minutes).
