The Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex has acquired the status ofuniversity hospital for the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), through the recognition of the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
This accreditation is a seal of quality, since obtaining it commits to fulfilling a whole series of requirements to opt for excellence. Among them, the university hospital must have adequate infrastructure for the development of teaching and research. Also a minimum number of teachers and doctors.
Currently, the Hospital Complex is assigned 38 professionals with an associate professor contract from the University of Barcelona and one permanent professor (associate professor) who is Dr. Pedro Armario, Director of Teaching at the Integral Health Consortium (CSI). Regarding doctors, the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex has 67 professionals with doctoral theses and 12 doctoral students (thesis projects underway).
The recognition also commits to maintaining some quality standards care and teaching that are audited, to provide excellent training and clinical training to students and to distinguish themselves for their activity in clinical and applied research. The teaching that is taught must be a task that involves all professionals, including professionals in training and management.
According to Dr. Armario: With this accreditation, "we have made a qualitative leap very important because we have gone from being a collaborating hospital with the university, to being a university hospital, that is to say, to being part of the university structure, recognition that very few centers have". He adds that "the recognition has been a an illusion worked on for many years, almost a decade, which has now been fulfilled thanks to the work done by the entire Teaching Unit team, UB professors and teaching collaborators, and all the health professionals" .
At the moment, in the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex, more than 530 UB students are trained each year: 322 in Medicine, 171 in Nursing, and more than 30 from other faculties: Psychology, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Social Work and Neurolinguistics
The Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex, made up of the Sant Joan Despí Hospital, the General Hospital of l'Hospitalet and the Sociosanitary Hospital of l'Hospitalet, functions as a single centre.
