The Consorci Sanitari Integral devises 3D printed disposables for ventilators in the ICU

The ICU of the Hospital de Sant Joan Despí, faced with the lack of supply of consumables for the respirators, has decided to print the pieces with 3D technology. The digitization of the piece has been carried out by the team of thePark Taulí Hospital, who has technically validated it. The Area of Innovation of the Consorci Sanitari Integral acquired a 3D printer last year, which was being used to prepare interventions for the Traumatology Service, and which is now producing the consumable.

Apart from this initiative, others have been started, such as a piece that doubles the function of 1 respirator and ventilates two patients, as well as masks or protective screens.

In addition, several hospital centers have already started printing parts, as have several 3D companies. A solidarity initiative has also emerged through a Telegram channel (https://t.me/makers3d), where anonymous people are printing parts from their homes with 3D printers, and there is already a forecast of more than 500 pieces.
