The Pharmacy Service of the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex is a general clinical service whose main objective is the safe use of medicines with maximum excellence
It acts as a support service for the care activity. It deals with covering the pharmacotherapeutic needs of the population through the selection, acquisition, preparation, control, dispensing and information of medicines so that they are used appropriately, based on safety, effectiveness and efficiency criteria derived from the scientific evidence. It shares, with the rest of the clinical services, the challenge of achieving the continuity of treatments at the different levels of care.

- Elaboration of the files on the technical characteristics of the medicines and the establishment of the technical-pharmaceutical criteria for the CSI's own procurement procedures. Collaborate in the management of the recruitment procedures of the Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya and the ICS.

- Management of drug shortages and withdrawals.
- Pharmaceutical expenditure management.
- Carrying out studies on the use and execution of institutionally accepted cost containment policies.
- Monthly analysis of hospital drug expenditure.
- Budget monitoring.
- Maintenance of the Hospital's medication inventory with expenditure control, returns and stocks.
- Management of medicine depots, geriatric homes and specialty centers attached to the institution, with regard to medicines.
- Internal staff management at the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex level: medical staff, pharmacy technical staff, administrative staff.
- Monitoring compliance with legislation on medicines.
- Definition of procedures to guarantee the internal quality of the service's own activities, using the Lean methodology.
Clinical management: dispensing:
- Dispensing medication in unit doses to admitted patients (conventional hospitalization and HADO).
- Dispensation for stock.
- Dispensing to external patients.
- Dispensing to external patients (via community pharmacy office).
- Dispensing of narcotics.
- Dispensing onco-hematological treatments.
- Dispensing of medicines under special conditions (medicines outside the Pharmacotherapeutic Guide, foreign, outside the technical data sheet, compassionate uses).
- Dispensing medicines in clinical trials.
- Dispensing medicines by kits.
Clinical management: pharmaceutical technology:
- Preparation of parenteral nutrition.
- Preparation of cytotoxic and other dangerous parenteral medicines.
- Preparation of medication for clinical trials.
- Elaboration of master formulas, sterile and non-sterile.
- Elaboration of standardized formulas, sterile and non-sterile.
- Packaging of medicines in unit doses.
- Faced with a new request for a new preparation, the preparation methodology is established, establishing a study of the formula, selection of raw materials and conditioning material, assessment of compatibility with dilution and saying suitable.
Clinical management: pharmaceutical care:
- Management of the Pharmacotherapeutic Guide: promotion and participation in the selection of medicines that the Hospital and primary care must use, thus contributing to the preparation and maintenance of the Pharmacotherapeutic Guide, under criteria of effectiveness, quality, need and cost.
- Management of drug inquiries.
- Therapeutic exchange program management.
- Participation in the development and monitoring of therapeutic protocols agreed with the rest of the hospital's clinical services.
- Information and pharmacotherapeutic follow-up to outpatients being treated with Outpatient Hospital Medication (MHDA).
- Follow-up of the pharmacy objectives of the contract with the Catalan Health Service: establish the necessary actions in order to comply with the agreed objectives.
- Collaborative management with the rest of the Registry of Patients and Treatments of the Catalan Health Service.
- Evaluation of the use of medicine aimed at detecting opportunities for improvement, both in terms of safety and the reduction of variability in clinical practice.
- Validation of medication prescription in hospitalized patients: treatment monitoring and pharmaceutical intervention (prescription management) and impact analysis.
- Validation of treatments at the multipurpose day hospital and Oncology.
- Validation of treatments indicated outside the technical data sheet and for compassionate use.
- PROA program management.
- Health validation of prescriptions from specialists not admitted to CatSalut (via SIRE).
- Preparation of reports requested by both internal and external clients.
- Collaborate in the reconciliation of the medication of patients entering or in internal transitions.
- Pharmacist presence on Saturdays, Sundays and interweek holidays (from 8:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m.)
- Notifications of the additions, cancellations or modifications of medicines in the Pharmacotherapeutic Guide.
- Notifications RAMs (yellow card).
- Continuous review of the SAPMedication drug database.
- Elaboration of reports on the suitability of special treatments.
- Pharmacy Process Management, with continuous review of procedures and records.

- Management of alerts, shortages and withdrawals of medicines
