Hospitalization at Home

About the Observatory

The Hospitalization at Home service (HADO) provides hospital intensive care to patients who are physically at home but who, from an administrative point of view, are admitted to hospital.

The HADO serves to shorten a conventional hospital stay or to save it. In the first case, the patients come from any of the three hospitals in the territory: Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Hospital Dos de Maig or Fundació Puigvert. On the other hand, patients who avoid hospitalization with HADO come from outpatient clinics, day hospitals, emergencies, primary care centers, the Residential Care Team (EAR) or of the Support Equipment Home Care Program (PADES) of any device in the territory of the Integral Health Area (AIS) Barcelona Dreta (16 basic health areas).
