About the Observatory

The Emergency Department of Dos de Maig Hospital attends to the urgent demand of moderate and low complexity of any specialty (except Pediatrics and Obstetrics) 24 hours a day and 365 days a year

To carry out this task, it is organized according to the level of urgency (triage), the complexity and the seriousness of the case. It solves the demand with a comprehensive vision coordinated with other services of the same hospital and with other hospitals, to try to efficiently achieve the best result in terms of health and patient satisfaction.

Units and benefits

The mission of the service is to attend to any demand for urgent care as long as it is of moderate and low complexity, since Dos de Maig Hospital does not have an intensive care unit (ICU). The Emergency Department has on-site consulting doctors for: internal medicine (24 hours a day), general surgery (from 8 a.m. to 20 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 15 p.m. on Fridays, the rest of the time there is a surgeon available ) and traumatology (from 8 a.m. to 15 p.m. Monday to Friday). Has:

  • Complete analytics 24 hours a day and blood bank management
  • Conventional radiology 24 hours a day
  • Computed axial tomography (CT) with a report from the radiologist 24 hours a day
  • Ultrasound (hours according to the calendar)

Diseases and procedures

  • Any urgent demand is evaluated by the service professionals, both from triage and in the different care areas.
    If it is considered that, due to its complexity or pathology, the patient must be referred to another hospital or center, it is transferred in the best conditions and as soon as possible.

– Vihgila Program (HIV detection in emergency services).

It is worth starting new lines of research in the Emergency Department.
