THE PART

When should I go to the hospital? What do you need to bring?

Childbirth is a physiological process and, as such, we will respect the times individually, with minimal obstetric intervention. We will provide information and support to help you make decisions throughout the process. That is why it is important that you have previously established a birth plan.

Both if the woman is in spontaneous labor, as well as if she enters for a scheduled caesarean section or for induction of labour, she must keep in mind the following:

  • It is important to come to the hospital showered.
  • Do not wear jewelry or piercings.
  • Nor should they wear painted or false nails.
  • Come without makeup.
  • At all times, the pregnant woman may be accompanied by one person during the entire hospital stay.
  • The accompanying person will be in charge of informing the rest of the family, if they have also come to the hospital and if they consider it appropriate, although we recommend that family members stay outside the hospital.

When do I have to come to the hospital?

It is important that they do not rush. The contractions must be regular, every 3-5 minutes and all with equal intensity, with an approximate duration of about 45-60 seconds each.

You should also come if you "break water", even if you don't have contractions, if you have periods-like losses or you don't feel the fetus moving.

What should I bring to the hospital?

For the mother:

  • It is necessary to take all the documentation: ID card, pregnancy booklet, tests, ultrasound reports, signed informed consents, etc.
  • Nightgowns open in front and robe.
  • Shoes.
  • Panties, we recommend that they be discarded during the hospital stay.
  • Special nursing bras (if you want to breastfeed).
  • Breast discs (optional).
  • Necessary with utensils for personal hygiene (soap, towel, toothbrush, compresses, brush or comb...).

For the baby:

  • It is recommended to wash all the baby's clothes before using them and remove the tags.
  • Cotton shirts, bodysuits and overalls (without lace, embroidery, buttons...).
  • Slippers or socks.
  • A lullaby
  • Necessary for baby hygiene (cream, comb...).
  • Wet wipes.
  • Diapers
